Corte Alta

Corte Alta is a new reality in the Valpolicella Classic area created by the Accordini family, who has been producing wines for four generations. This project was started in 2008 and is the fruit of the innovative ideas of Giacomo and Paolo, soon to be joined by Marco and supervised by Daniele and Tiziano Accordini.

The company, situated in the hills of Fumane in the village of Cavalo at 550 metres above sea level, has 25 hectares of vineyard all growing the traditional varieties of Corvina, Corvinone and Rondinella. The desire to highlight and recover the traditional values of this area and to give the wines a greater identity and uniqueness has urged the company to create a small experimental vineyard containing old re-discovered grape varieties from a little known and precious wine growing culture particular to these hills. The new vineyards are situated between Cavalo and Mazzurega and have been productive since 2003. Vigna Tornidora, Vigna San Zeno, Vigna Camparol and Vigna Corone are identified as classic wines produced in the individual vineyards, thereby expressing the uniqueness and character of each single Cru.

The experience with withering grapes for the production of Recioto and Amarone, together with a modern style of interpretation hasconspired to create a new wine “Feritas” (the true strength) obtained via a slight withering of the Corvina grape for 30 days , together with a small quantity of Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon grapes. The new cantina constructed in 2010 manages all the phases of wine production from the withering of the grapes, ageing in barrels and barriques, through to the bottling process, controlling the entire production and guaranteeing a constant quality of wine produced. The cantina, surrounded by vineyards and in a splendid panoramic position with an extraordinary mountain view to the rear and a terrace overlooking the City of Verona to the front, creates an ideal combination of Art, Wine and Territory.

The hospitality and conviviality characteristic of the Accordini family, together with a well-equipped tasting room, ensures that much welcomed visits become moments of pleasure and enjoyment.
