Collepiccino gets its name from the farmhouse built around a medieval tower at the top of a hill in southern Tuscany. The name Collepiccino is typically Tuscan, in fact the word “piccino” is often used in this region meaning young or small.

Collepiccino is the first idea developed by Violante Gardini, Donatella Cinelli Colombini’s daughter. The Collepiccino range is her first project, where she has desired uniting tradition of this territory and her family’s long history in winemaking in Tuscany together with modern technology in production to obtain Brunello di Montalcino destined for great wine lovers. She is young but still grateful to her family for having passed on to her the passion for wine, she chooses a clean label, with romantic characters that make one dream of long ago.

Collepiccino creates the wines produced according to tradition with artisan care. These wines come from vineyards and from two wineries situated in Montalcino and in Trequanda where the Chianti and the Doc Orcia regions overlap.  The territory is very hilly, rich in limestone, calcareous and clayey, with good structure.  The altitude of the vineyards varies between 230 and 400 metres above sea level. The excellent ventilation favours perfect ripening of the grapes. The varieties cultivated are: Sangiovese, Merlot and some Canaiolo Nero.  Fermentation takes place in temperature controlled stainless steel vats whereas the barrels used for the ageing are in oak from France and Slavonia of the best quality.
