Azienda Agricola Poggio Brigante
The Tuscan Maremma, with its wild hills on the Uccellina promontory and on the Argentario Coast , is the cradle of a great appellation: the Morellino di Scansano. Here, in Magliano in Toscana, in these places where the country tradition is still alive, Franco Rossi and his son Leonardo run since 2001 the Poggio Brigante Farm, called after the hill upon which it is situated.
Poggio Brigante cultivates about 25 hectares of vineyard on the hill, 200 metres above see level. On a mainly clay soil the farm produces Sangiovese, Syrah, Alicante and Vermentino grapes.
The family buisness avails itself of the better techniques and more careful controls, from the selection and ripening on the grapes, till the fermentation and the bottling, using the most modern machinery, stainless steel tanks for the fermentation and barriques for the ageing.
From this care are born Poggio Brigante wines and the Rossi family is happy to let them taste to every visitor.
