This is the history of one of Trentino’s oldest wineries.
In 1885 Francesco and Angelo Endrici (formerly "de Enrici" or "Endrizzi" in the local dialect) arrived and - like true pioneers - they introduced the world’s finest grapevine species such as Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot already at the beginning of the 20th century, however without neglecting important local grape varieties such as Teroldego and Lagrein. Francesco was succeeded by his son Romano, who also was President of the Autonomous Province of Trento and his grandson Franco who chaired the Comitato Vitivinicolo Trentino with his strong personality for twenty years.
Today, the fourth generation is represented by great-grandson Paolo and his wife Christine, a German architect, who enhance the century-old tradition with great dedication, love, and the rich results deriving from two unique cultural backgrounds.
The Endrizzi estate expands in all directions around the historical building on Masetto hill, which today comprises the Enoteca (the store is open every day except Tuesdays) and the historical Bottaia - the unique winery venue for organizing special events.
The Cantina though, before being an elegant special event venue, is primarily just that: a winery. Among the oldest wineries of the Trentino, it also boasts an avant-garde architectonical project, which is distinguished by its minimal environmental impact. Its characteristic trait is the lavish technological endowment: stainless steel in various shapes and forms (tanks, ladders, technical equipment, pipelines, and walkways) showed off to its best by beacons of light in a half-dark ambience (the walls and ceilings are black) give rise to a unique visual emotion.
Besides the new winery, at present the historical Cantina, which dates back to 1885, serves as a suggestive backdrop for the refinement of the wines in oak barrels.
